New mobo/ddr5 memory not as fast as I expected

wmic memorychip get speed shows 7000 on both sticks.
In the BIOS I found under:
UMC/DDR/
DDR Training Runtime Reduction set to enable (options of Disable or Auto in which case if memory is OC setting will go to Disable)
DFE Read Training - Auto
RX2D_Training - Manual
Tx2D_Training - manual

According to the Crucial info (above) a mobo may reduce the memory training after the initial boot unless something changes like hardware or a BIOS change but this board seems to train every boot so I'm comfused. Please excuse my ignorance but this is my first time working with DDR5 memory so bear with me if I don't understand.
DDR5 training repeats on my #1 system, but only after a few weeks (without BIOS setting changes).

You should not be getting it on every boot. I don't know what might cause that.

A semi-random suggestion: if you have the Gigabyte Control Center utility installed, I suggest getting rid of it.

Also check if the SSD speeds are as advertised by the manufacturer. Use some software like CrystalDiskMark. You can also try to place the SSD in other slot of the motherboard.

DDR5 timings match the advertised timings of 36-44-44-114-158

Uninstalled the Gigabyte Control Center. Rebooted. 5 seconds between power-off screen and Aorus boot screen, 3 seconds until Windows load (spinning wheel), 5 seconds until desktop. A heck of a lot faster!!

Going to reinstall the Control Center and see if I can reproduce the problem later tonight. If it turns out the Control Center is the issue (it sure looks like it) what is it doing to cause the problem? Anyway, I'll be back in a couple of hours.

Reinstalled the GCC and that produced the original problem. Uninstalled it and going to keep it that way. Can't understand why some company would make software that would degrade their own system.

Anyway, anyone with an AM5 Gigabyte mobo - DON'T INSTALL THE GIGABYTE CONTROL CENTER!!

Thanks for everyone's help. Much appreciated, especially to bobkn for the heads up on the GCC.

Please mark this as solved.

I would seriously consider a fresh install of Windows Eleven. I know it’s a pain to do so, but I would.
Install Windows and then make sure everything is playing nicely before proceeding with the next steps of reloading your apps and software.

I have watched you learn things as you go through this thread, which is excellent. But you would be surprised what a difference a fresh install would have on what is going on.
I have built at least 100 PC’s, and considering I always bought compatible hardware, have never had to tweak anything so it would work together, less my preferences for the BIOS settings.

You could make an image backup, fresh install Windows to see what the difference might be.
If you’re facing the same shortcomings, you could always reload the image.

Anyway, anyone with an AM5 Gigabyte mobo - DON'T INSTALL THE GIGABYTE CONTROL CENTER!!

Those utility apps released by the big motherboard manufacturers are all to be avoided like the plague afaik.

As you found, using them ends in :tears:

Well done on getting your issues sorted.
