I'm currently running a 7 year old PC running the latest Window 10. I have sync turned on. I will need a new PC to run Window 11. When I get my new PC it will have Windows 11 preinstalled. If I create a Microsoft account using my old account I have two questions:
1. Will my old Microsoft account be used on the new PC?
2. Will my Win 10 home page be copied to my Win 11 computer?

I assume you mean that you create a Windows 11 user account using your Microsoft account. Then yes, most of your Windows settings should be transferred over to Windows 11 from Windows 10 and also any Edge browser configurations and bookmarks you have setup.

It is not 100% guaranteed, as it does not always work reliably, but this is how it should work in most cases.

If anyone can verify what I just said, I would highly appreciate it.

I know for a fact that Edge Syncs well between Windows 10 and 11 but I'm not certain about Windows settings.

You won't need to create a new MS account. You can sign-in to your existing account. By home page are you referring to the desktop background or the home page in your browser. I have Sync turned on for all of my computers and the backgrounds do sync up. I also have Sync turned on in Edge and my bookmarks and setting also sync up.

Assuming you are referring to your W10 desktop, then maybe. It depends on what your sync settings are. I prefer a different wall paper on each system, so that isn't synced.

Actually, you can manually remove a device but you do add a new one by simply signing in from it as you describe.

When I signed in with Windows 11 it didn't copy my Windows 10 settings for wallpaper, colours etc - I think it just adds your machine to the account.

You may be right on the wallpaper and other personalization settings. Oddly, when I upgraded my compliant system through the Installation Assistant I had to go through the personalization settings to get them back to what I had with Win 10 (Win 11 at first boot started with the Bloom thing as wallpaper). On my non-compliant machine I used the ISO and deleting the appraiserres.dll method and all my personalization settings were afterward retained. With both installs, I was signed in to my Microsoft account so it did not appear to matter with the Installation Assistant install as Microsoft set something in the install to push forward their settings and the Win 11 Bloom.

All of my computers updated the background and colors. The only desktop that is different is when I log-in as Admin on my new Desktop. It uses the default Win 11 desktop.
