Check the user guide for your system. On many systems one of the M.2 slots will share resources with other devices (typically SATA drives) requiring that certain ports not be used at the same time as that M.2 slot. Check to make sure that you have no conflicts.

The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.

Is this a system you built yourself and then installed Win11?

For the Gigabyte z790 Aorus Elite AX, the M2A is the one with PCI-E lanes provided by the CPU.

I'm not sure whether it would give better performance than the other slots, which get their PCI-E lanes from the chipset. Seems like it should be somewhat better.

On some Z790 boards, that slot is PCI-E 5.0, and the PCI-E X16 slot drops back to X8 if the slot is used. (Regardless of the PCI-E version of the M.2 card.) But for the Gigabyte z790 Aorus Elite AX, the M2A is limited to PCI-E 4.0, so the GPU slot is unaffected.

I can't explain your issue, but what you're seeing is not normal.

You said you had to remove the heatsink from the 990 Pro. I've never used any of the newest 990 series yet let alone ones with a heatsink already attached. One thing you might look into is using the Samsung Magician software and see of that drive needs a firmware update.

Honestly using the M.2 slot from the CPU is almost always going to be the best one to use for the Boot drive.

Something else to look at is the motherboard bios. Should be using F9 or later. Could it be an issue with the CPU itself?

hi all even though the issue is not solve i am closing this thread as i did benchmarks from test reviews with the benchmarks i did and the difference in performance and latency is very small it is showing 8us difference in latency so that is nothing
