Replaced 1TB NVMe M.2 with a 2TB NVMe M.2, doesn't show

It was a NVME M.2. not a standard SSD so I did not have and way to mount it externally

Rich,

It's up to you of course but USB-connected enclosures for M.2 'disks' have become commonplace.
I have one for NVMe M.2s & one for the increasingly rare SATA M.2s [and one that claims to work with both but does not].

This link has some photos of an example adapter,

[This is not a recommendation. I know nothing about this brand.]

All the best,

So the key is to make the change from RAID to AHCI then boot to safe mode?

This doesn't work for me as I use OpenShell: Right-click the Windows Start Menu once more. Choose Command Prompt (Admin).
I have to use Shift + Right-click. There is no Command Prompt (Admin) but I can use Terminal (Admin).

I'll try this the next time I run into a system running in RAID mode.

Thank you.

Replaced 1TB NVMe M.2 with a 2TB NVMe M.2, doesn't show in disk management or diskpart or during Windows 11 install.

I created a Macrium backup of the 1TB drive and planned to restore it to the 2TB drive, then shrink the restored drive to 1TB and make a 2nd 1TB drive out of the unused space, format it NTFS and make it my D: drive. Now that plan is out the window since I don't even see it. I bought a

SAMSUNG 990 PRO w/ Heatsink SSD 2TB, PCIe Gen4 M.2 2280 Internal Solid State Hard Drive

Any idea why the system doesn't see the drive? (Windows 11 Pro, current with latest updates)
@Ztrucker I suggest cloning the 1 TB on to the 2TB using Macrium.
In Macrium version 8 (free for personal use), during beginning cloning process you can adjust partition sizes. Use Macrium's youtube video as a guide.
Perfect, easy, piece of cake 🎂 😋 👍😉

Hmmm, I think I have one for M.2 drives at work. I'll check Tuesday when I go in. Thanks for the suggestion/reminder.

No. Read it again. You boot into safe mode first.
There is no Command Prompt (Admin)

If you have no power options menu, In Windows search, search for cmd. In search results select "command Prompt system run as administrator."

Yes, sorry, I did see that, just misquoted it. The bcdedit commands work from Terminal just as well as they do from Command Prompt.

I saved it in my Tips database:
