The Kofi was very short lived, FBConan and also the Windows X-Lite itself have both grown quiet and dark. I've even searched him up on TeamOS XYZ's forums and he's banned there, unfortunately, so I can't even find to see if he's made recent posts or threads either, which really sucks. But the Windows X-Lite is still up and running. I wonder if we'll hear back again some day on Windows X-Lite site, project status and also hear back from FBConan. Last upload on the YouTube channel was 5 months ago, sadly...

Yes. Disappeared. The 28000.1 v3 I bought for $10 was taken down. I still keep the iso and installed it about 3 weeks ago and runs nice. I wonder what happened to him? If you find out, let us know on this forum.

It is a shame as the X-Lite versions I'm running here are still working fine and not nearly as maintenance intensive as standard Win 11 OS. I'm guessing that the lynch pin that made Mister X-Lite "vanish" would be when people started paying for it. This is a good feedback message for MS to think about. I rather doubt that they will take heed, but when people actually start paying for a no-nonsense, stream-lined version of Windows the matter speaks for itself. A lighter, less demanding OS that could be built up to standard is definitely something worthy of consideration. Not everyone wants every app that comes with Windows and not everyone wants programs such as Co Pilot, Bit Locker, and One Drive. I am not convinced that MS is paying attention as more and more people are switching to Linux. Perhaps that threshold hasn't been met yet, but as things currently stand Linux could not ask for a better friend than Microsoft.

It will be a real shame if this is the end of X-lite, I'm so use to the fast bloat free software.
Worse case I'll stick with the latest version until it won't work any more.

This is exactly why I felt a fear of paying them $10. Also, on Reddit I looked up v3 and led me to a warez page where most of the other Windows X-Lite releases are hosted. I downloaded from there and it's been up and running perfectly fine for me without issues on my old Thinkpad T520 fine ish, wife got me my Thinkpad for roughly almost $90 via eBay. Looking at other budget options for Thinkpads and I actually noticed one on bid for $90 ish but unfortunately it was bid only, but it generally can go for that dirt cheap but unfortunately there were very few of that exact Thinkpad for the $80-$90 price markings. I would love to order one someday. I had researched and it handles Marvel Snap and Hearthstone and also gives 60fps and moderate lightweight ish 3D gaming as well, perfect for my basic needs. And I can just put my spare T520 to some whatever use with latest CachyOS April release.

I respect that and I once shared the same persuasion. It took me a while to learn that staying "updated" in all respects wasn't even practical. In fact, it's only a matter of time before staying updated on older hardware isn't even feasible. This isn't even necessarily a bad thing as it really depends on what you plan on using your PC for. In the case of commercial/industrial environments staying updated is crucial, but that also includes running hardware generally newer than five years old. Often times older hardware cannot even handle newer Windows updates. A good AV app and a local account is often all one needs to run a PC even if it's ten years old and still remain relatively safe. Brand new comes with its own share of problems.
