Hi all.
My built in news and weather widget seems to have gone away. Where it normally sits on the task bar, there is now a blank spot. It was the only widget there so I don't know if the app is broken or if the Widget panel is broken.
I am not entirely sure if a Windows update broke it or if I broke it trying to update it.
It's the built in widget that usually sits on the task bar, it shows you news and weather. (Appears similar to the Bing or MSN feed) I am not entirely sure what MS even calls it. For the past month or so each time I hover over the task bar and allow the widget to pop up to take a peek at weather or headlines, it has been nagging me that an updated widget is available.
So I did something crazy and told it to update itself. The MS Store program loads and a process that seems to have started never completes. Going to the "Downloads" option on the left column of the MS store, I see where it attempted to download, but it shows an "Error, Something went wrong on our end", to which I click RETRY several times, and eventually it does appear to download and go away from the Downloads screen. Mission success?
Several days later I notice the widget is not there.
Things I have tried:
Toggle Widgets on and off.
The usual DISM and SFC routes that every tech support agent answers in the official MS forums.
Search for the widget in MS Store app. There are too many results so I don't want to tell one of the results to install. What exactly is the widget called?
General Google search which gives several MS and Reddit threads, none of which are helpful.
I am running 25H2, have not installed the January Patch Tuesday stuff yet.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
