No More EdgeDeflector


Update @Ghot Mine has re-appeared after the update (see screenshot of install date) also theWebView2 Runtime shows today and I haven't even used edge today

I removed Edge several days ago via the GitHub link. It worked great, but when I tried to go to a website from Search, it wouldn't work.

And here's the strange thing . . . I decided to put Edge back, but it still doesn't work. However, Firefox does! It opens the links I put into the Search Bar.

Nope, I have no clue as to what I did to make it work that way. And, most likely, Build 22509 will probably reinstate Edge to its prior dominance. 👺

That's the risk of removing Edge. It's integrated so tightly with the OS you may end up with issues like this one.. or others.

I agree with @BunnyJ I never use edge I just leave it on my system unused for fear of this sort of thing. It has never been good to me since it went chromium.

I have used it since they opted to base it on Chromium.. and I have to say it's not that bad.. in fact I like it but I much prefer to use Firefox.

Guess I better just leave will enough alone. I've learned the hard way in the early days of PCs that somethings aren't worth messing with. Anyone remember the old Radio Shack Tandy 1000 computers and MS-DOS? That was my 1st PC lol.

I have installed DEV Build 22509 and Edge still will no longer work. Further, all links I put into Search (on top of the graphic menu) still open in Firefox.

Yes, Jeff, I really did expect Edge to take back over, but so far, it hasn't.

BTW, Franco, I didn't get that remover from GitHub. I got it from MajorGeeks.

What you can do is a system backup and then try removing Edge. If it fails.. restore everything.

Yeah I keep a backup now a days with Macrium but I'm also a firm believer in Murphy's law, "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong." so I don't want to tempt fate. It would be my luck the backup fails to restore and I'd have to spend days - weeks reinstalling and configuring everything back to how I had it. Hate when that happens.
