Just so you know, this is the new black screen of death. It is a bsod.

Microsoft changed the color of it for some reason.

The black screen of death is causing problems in terms of user recognition

Anyone else noticed that users now cannot recognize BSOD anymore? With it being a black screen now, I am finding users are thinking its a windows update screen (because users don't read), but to be fair, when you look at it at first glance it does seem that way: We had a production machine...

I'm a bit lost as to what to do next. I ran the V2 Log collector but I forget to extract it from the zip file first so it did not save a log. Should I run it again?

Do you have a clue what the actual CAUSE was? Are we still trying to figure that out or are we just trying to mitigate the damage?

This is all too complicated. Under #8 there's three links that all seem to be the same thing on the Ten Forums and when I go there it's another link to 15 different things from 6 years ago of which some are already completed. I'm becoming exhausted with this not to mention Ive been up since 3:30 AM and hiked 10 miles and now my brains not working apparently.

So I took one example and asked AI about it and it said (for example) that

and that it is usually caused by an abnormal system shutdown. So are we just trying to clean up the mess of the BSOD now?

So I cleared the cache . . .

If there are red-flagged entries,then note the first one and then at page bottom,select ---view all problem reports ---and then Double Click on the entry which coincides with the first crash.
This should provide a Report Sent page and the first two lines give the name of the cause.

I looked at that yesterday. Nothing I can read but I passed some of it through Google AI

It creates a list of files in a temp folder . . .

When you close the Reliability History app all the files disappear though I'm sure they are also stored somewhere else.

Which test result revealed that there were problems between the communication of the disk and the host 6844 times? Which drive? I should have a spare cable. One of my drives (the HDD backup) goes to sleep and it takes a few seconds to wake up. I dont even know why anything is trying to access it unless windows itself thinks it needs to. I wish we could just push a button and turn off some hard drives from outside the tower.

Edit: I found the answer to my question . . . It's Hard Disk Sentinel that said there were problems between the communication of the disk and the host 6844 times and the drive is my Windows 7 pro drive (Drives E & F) which is my "daily driver"

I thought I posted the HD Tune long test for the Windows 11 drive already but not yet for the other drives.
I read it's not needed for SSD's as the drives have S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology)

I think you probably don't need to scan disks for errors. The crashdumps indicate a software problem (which can include NTFS corruption). So do chkdsk but not surface scans. But a good test of a disk is the SMART short test. It has instantly found damaged disks for me in the past. Your SMART stats on C: don't indicate any hardware issue.

It could be a driver issue. Have you updated any drivers lately?

Since the error in C: was fixed, have you any crashes since? Firefox may be corrupted. I would reinstall the version you are using. If you still have crashes, then I would disable the hardware acceleration in Firefox as suggested. Or vice versa - just so you try one thing at a time.

The data you collected for zbook also indicate you had crosslinked files, which are kind of bad. That means that more than one file thinks it owns the same disk cluster(s), which usually leads to 1 or more corrupted files after chkdsk has fixed the cross linking.

Is there a way to know what files were cross linked? The problem with scanning every disk if they have unrelated issues as one boots Win-11 and another has Win-7 that's not the disk drive that had the BSOD. The Win-7 drive has the most issues despite never having had a BSOD in 10+ years and it's the oldest drive. Windows 7 is the one that seems to have a bad cable that I still need to swap

Oh Yeah, the Forefox cache which I have since deleted. I never delete that cache unless I have an issue that it might solve.
