I don't have a problem with how they administer it, I have a problem with paying for something over and over again! Let's face it, the holy grail of sales is being able to sell something that brings in repetitive revenue year after year!I'm with you on this. I love the way Microsoft handles the licensing with 365. I reinstall Windows frequently on some machines but I can always reinstall 365 with no difficulties. I have the family plan even though I am the only person using it. But that plan lets you share with other people. I simply share with other accounts of my own. All legit, but it lets me install on a lot of machines and reinstall anytime I need.
If I decommision a machine, I simply go to my account online and remove the license from any machine where I no longer need it, freeing it for another machine.
I have absolutely no problem with licensing when it is done right like this.
I used to be a partner in a Wall Street equipment business, and we rented our equipment to the NYSE and member firms. I always had a big smile on my face as month after month the revenue came in for equipment that had paid for itself several times already. Why sell something that you can rent for years and make a lot more money?
