Office Home and Student 2010 installs, but closes as soon as it opens.

I have installed for first use on my new PC and also done a repair. But still Word or Excel will not stay open. I have tried run as administrator.

I click Start/Programs/Microsoft Word and it opens the blank page and hangs for a few seconds then closes.

I Googled for a solution and see that others are able to use this older Word without any issues. What am I missing here ?

Did you uninstall the pre-installed Office 365 app first?
If not, I suggest you download Revo Uninstaller FreeWare. Use Revo to first uninstall Office 2010. After Revo uninstalls 2010, it will scan for any leftover items. Select the ADVANCED mode of scanning so Revo will dig deeper for leftovers. Make sure you check every leftover thing Revo finds and then select delete. Restart computer.

Then use Revo to uninstall Office 365 app and remove its leftover items. Do the same as above. Restart again.

Reinstall Office 2010.
