Solved OneDrive driving me crazy

One drive seems to be duplicating folders on my desktop. For example:

C:\Users\wreck\OneDrive\BestPub

Start in: C:\Users\wreck\OneDrive\Apps\Desktop

Below that I now have

C:\Users\wreck\OneDrive\Apps\Desktop

Seem to be duplicates. Its confusing me. I like to keep a clean desktop and would like only one of the folders to be there, preferably the first one, but I'm afraid to delete anything as these are critical files.

I really dislike the maverick One Drive (sorry, I know some people really do like it) and always uninstall it. However, before attempting to uninstall it you need to make sure you have backed up copies of your files that won't disappear if you no longer have one drive (as happened to me once). I'm sure someone else can advise the right settings to ensure this doesn't happen.

It's also a resource hog - although that may not be noticeable if your machine is powerful enough.

I believe the way to do it is

1) "Unlink" one drive on your computer (go the cloud icon on taskbar, right click, select account - window opens - select account. Tick "unlink" then done or save or whatever.
2) Uninstall one drive in the apps section.

That should leave your files on your computer - then you can sort them out withput risking losing anything. But I'd still back all files up first.

Leo Notenboom: It is not news that OneDrive has become a problematic mess for many people.
It's really disappointing, honestly.

The two biggest issues include Microsoft's horrific OneDrive backup "feature" (and I always put that in quotes) that can actually lead to data loss, and/or the blending of OneDrive and Outlook.com storage limits that (guess what) can also lead to data loss.

It's a mess.
