This morning one drive has prompted me (for the umpteenth time) to set up backup on my PC. Instead of clicking 'remind me later' I clicked next, assuming that I would be given an opportunity to select the folders to backup. But no, OneDrive simply started backing up the my pictures folder to OneDrive.
What Microsoft in its infinite wisdom had not accounted for was that on my system SSD (256GB) that holds the local OneDrive folder there is not enough space to hold the content of my Pictures folder on the D drive (4TB spinner disc).
So OneDrive now has filled up my SSD and then produced an error, I guess because it ran out of space for the local OneDrive folder.
Next I tried to make a backup copy of my local OneDrive folder on the system SSD to drive D to be able to uninstall OneDrive in order to reset everything to how it was before. But the folder cannot be copied. I get an error message that I am missing 250GB of space on the system SSD to complete the request.
Good work, Microsoft, I will say no more about my frustration.
I have a backup of the Pictures folder on my NAS dating from Jan 4th. I have files in the local OneDrive folder on my system SSD that should be current, which I cannot copy somewhere else. I would be grateful for hints how to salvage this situation.
Thanks a lot
