I agree that for people on the go with multiple devices, businesses, etc., OneDrive is invaluable. For me, though, virtually housebound, with internet speed too slow to catch a cold, it's not practical. I do use it occasionally online and I have no reservations about it at all.
What MS is doing is so wrong. What better way to sell OneDrive storage space to users who don't know they can still store their data locally. I wonder what an MS rep would tell a user who called them because they got a not enough storage space error.
Microsoft is finally realizing that they can't get rich just selling Windows OS installation disc sets at your local computer shop!
I'm still angry about the free phone offer I took from AT&T. They kept sending me the offer to upgrade my old Galaxy phone to a newer Galaxy phone. I finally decided to do it because I wasn't planning on switching carriers. They sent me the phone and everything I needed to return my old phone. My phone bill increased because of the new phone. I waited a few months thinking that it was just taking a while to get in the system because they had to evaluate the old phone. I finally called them and was told that my plan didn't qualify for the free phone. They also said there was no way for me to get my old phone back. They said that to qualify I needed the unlimited data plan and auto payment. Out of the kindness of their heart they reset the offer and let me upgrade to the unlimited data plan and auto pay. Now I have a free phone that they deduct the monthly payment off of my bill and the added expense of unlimited data on three phones. Two that are flip phones that never access the internet and my new Galaxy phone. Before upgrading I never ever used up the data from the old plan. When my contract runs out you can be sure I won't forget.
Microsoft isn't forcing anyone to use their OS. This is just another excuse to blame others for one's own lack of initiative to learn.

Nope. Talking about the noobs that just want a PC to work. Run YT, Emails etc., and have absolutely no interest in how modern day Windows works. You think it's ok to have the default with OneDrive syncing during install with just a tiny text line to change it. Noobs will only click ok for everything during instillation just to get the new shiny machine working. They soon find out later with the warning that they're running out of space for adding more photos and won't understand why. That's my issue. It's ok for nerds who know it all but there are people who simply don't or even can't understand the workings of Windows and use default settings thinking everything is good. So we'll agree to disagree.Nah, they'd just find something else to complain about.
I've been in PC tech forums since the late 90s, and the one thing that's stood the test of time is people complaining about Windows.

I do like onedrive. But, I liked it when I could decide what I wanted to place on the onedrive. Now, I have told one drive what I want to stay local and damned if I look up and everything has been moved back to onedrive. whats with that?
Learn how to configure and use "Files On Demand" and problem solved.
Yeah, that one doesn't make sense. The only base folders automatically sync'd to OneDrive (unless you disable as shown in post #46) are Desktop, Documents, and Pictures. Any other folder you have to add yourself. That isn't auto.
