OneNote from Office 2013 doesn't install in Office 365, but instead -reinstalls O 365

When I was still running Office 2013 on a Win 10 Pro system, I also installed OneNote, which is a separate installer from the rest of Office, only 8.3 MB.

I just tried to run that installer to install this version of OneNote in my new Win 11 Pro system, but ...
1. OneNote was not installed.
2. Microsoft reinstalled all the regular Office 365 applications.

Is there any way that I can still install OneNote 2013?

I don't want to use the Office 365 version of OneNote because it stores data files in the cloud. Office 2013 OneNote stores all the files on my PC.

I have OneNote for Windows 10 and the OneNote that came with Microsoft Office 2013 on my Win11 computer. Haven't any issue with them but I don't use OneDrive. OneNote for Windows 10 does have a setting for disabling the sync of files.

I found a place to download OneNote 2013 (see below). I tried to install it but failed because I already have the newer version of OneNote installed. I assume that was installed with Office 2021.

You can get OneNote for Windows 10 here. It's what I use and have been using a while under Windows 11 Pro 24H2....


And as noted, you can turn syncing off. I myself prefer to have it sync so I can access my data from anywhere, including my phone, but that's me.

I'm also a Microsoft 365 subscriber. I keep all my data and photos in my OneDrive folder. I also keep Files On Demand turned OFF, thus keeping all my data stored both locally and in cloud OneDrive and always in real-time sync. Because OneNote data is also stored in OneDrive, its also stored both locally and in cloud OneDrive. I wouldn't want it any other way as I never want to lose any of my work as I'm working. And like @Dru2, I always want my data available to me anywhere, on all my devices, at all times.

Since all my data is always stored both locally and in cloud OneDrive, when I do my Macrium Reflect images, I am also backing up all my data, including my OneNote data.
