Open Shell 4.4.170 was released and it works great in Windows 11

This project is being actively developed (again!), so it would be better visit the history page first and download the latest build.
Open-Shell-Menu - History, click particular version, on its page then click Artifacts link.

I said it works perfectly fine in Windows 11 even has the rounded corners it is akin to what was the nightly build. I provided all links so you can go wherever you please.

Yes, I like this menu (initially Classic Start Menu) and use it anywhere I can, reproducing Windows 7 - like style. So, after start of Windows 11 beta I downloaded the last version of Open Shell and was a bit disappointed that development goes very slow; at that time it was far behind the Windows 11 announce, so in the menu OS was shown as Windows 10 Pro (in my case). I expected to wait a long time for fixes and improvements... And now it's known that work continues again, thanks to developers, thanks to your attention and info you posted here.

Even though it still shows "10" in Windows version, I hope this will be fixed soon, at least before release of 11.

This version has the rounded corners and such and it does perform very well . If you look at some MS sites/apps they still say Windows 10.

I'm using Start11, and it's working great.
I might try Open Shell for a comparison.

Correct, would at least expect to be able to test the beta for them, then buying it when RTM if any good.

I can get a discount as own Start8 but TBH I gave up on it (some issue AFAIR) and went ClassicShell and now StartIsBack (well not on Win 11 for now).

Also had their ModernMix but cannot remember what it was for.

It is probably taking it from the Windows registry, AS IT SHOULD, which still has 10 as the edition.

AFAIK, there are two ways to detect the OS version: use the system call (which MS has changed too often) or go directly to Registry after some known key(s). Some (most of) apps in Windows 11 show the OS version correctly, while a few others still do not. MS should and I hope will be publish the official way to differentiate 10 and 11, which is very important for apps which are specifically tuned to 11's features, like video games.
