Solved Open with key combination

I put the script in the Windows antivirus exclusions because I think that was what was blocking the operation.
But the problem remains regarding after opening the image on paint3d the image is not imported
It works randomly I opened for example 10 images and on these 10 images only once it imported the image to the program while the other 9 times a blank page.

this always happens look:
close the script running in the tray

replace your .exe with this one

rerun it

try to open an image with the hotkey combo again - once you alt+right click, let it sit without doing anything at all and see. i believe its the delay in your system launching paint3d. mine opens immediately whereas yours has a 1-2 second delay. the script already called to winwait until that window was active, but i added an additional 1 second sleep after that before sending the paste command. hopefully its just that simple to resolve.

ok, it works now, I also tried to reboot

So if I want to run this script on a second computer, is there a risk that it won't work?

doubtful. it should work on any pc now. i slowed it down to accommodate to a slower pc. just follow the same setup steps as this one and it'll work on any pc with any version of paint 3d installed (because it runs off of the shortcut to paint 3d and not the exe)

Hi, I know it's been almost a year.
I need help with this script again.
Let me explain:
The script still works on my laptop, but I can't seem to get it to work.
I wanted to insert the same script on my desktop computer, but I can't seem to get it to work. :(
I followed the same steps I did on my laptop.

1) I created the Temp folder on the C drive and copied the Paint3D shortcut.

2) I inserted the file into Shell:startup. It launches (I see it in the open programs tray). But when I press ALT+Right-click,
Nothing happens. :(

Can you help me get the script to work on my desktop computer too?
OS: Win 11
I also installed Autohotkey Dash.

Thanks

Is the Paint 3d Version number the same on both the laptop & desktop? On the Desktop PC, in the Windows Run Box, enter the followig line to confirm that Paint 3d opens correctly (as that is the hard coded path used in the script exe file).

"C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.MSPaint_6.2410.13017.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\PaintStudio.View.exe"

That won’t matter for the script i wrote as it points to a .lnk, not an .exe.

Is the shortcut in the exact same location and named exactly the same as the one on the working pc?

Aah, ok, I thought linguaccia22 might have been using the exe in reply #24 which uses the exe pathname.

i had thought post 6 was the 'working' version they were using:

Run, "C:\temp\Paint 3D.lnk"
