Outlook 2016 Calendar Pop Up Notifications

Outlook 2016



When I opened Outlook today after start up my calendar notification reminders popped up individually in the bottom right-hand corner where the New Mail notification appear.

When all of the reminders had individually popped up the usual window with all reminders appeared on the left-hand side.

This is the first time this has happened.

After closing Outlook and reopening these calendar notification reminder pop ups have not happened again.

I have tried to turn these calendar notification reminder pop ups on.

I have gone to settings, notifications, turn on/off outlook notifications etc. restarted Outlook, restarted the PC in various permutations without any success.

I found it very useful to have this type of popup reminder but cannot get Outlook to repeat these pop ups.

Is there a way to do this?

Done all that.

Still get the New Mail notifications but not the Calendar ones...

Did you possibly DISMISS them?

No I did not Dismiss.

The Calendar Notifications appeared with a sound for a few seconds and then disappeared.

Shut down outlook and type this into a command prompt

outlook/cleanreminders

Ran it as a Administrator but I get

"outlook" is not a recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

John you could try doing a repair. Might fix it or might not.

1. Open Programs and Features in control panel.
2. Scroll down to your Office 2016 and Right Click, Select Change.
3. Choose whether you would like to try a Quick Repair or Online Repair.
4. Click on Repair and wait for the repair to complete.

Try a quick repair first, John, If that doesn't work run the online repair.

Already done a quick repair with no change.

Very reluctant to do a On Line Repair, had some bad experiences with them.

Puzzling why these Notification appeared in that form.

It is a nice to have but I am starting to think it was a software anomaly that has disappeared.

Try adding the full path to Outlook

I am sorry to hear that, John.
I haven’t got 2016 installed anymore since upgrading to 2021. I wish I could be of more help. And to be honest, I don’t even know if mine does what you require, I’ve never taken any notice. I do have Calendar entries but I am so unsociable I probably either subconsciously ignore them or have told them to shut-up
Having said that, It would make every sense that there should be some kind of notification of events or what would be the point of using the calendar?
