Could anyone recommend a PC Authentication App?

I don't have a mobile so I need an app which does not rely on texts / QR codes to complete the installation.

Thank you.

Most password managers can store the 2FA codes and can read the QR codes, also most 2FA setups will have an option to copy the code the QR represents.

Keepass is a free and simple PC app that may serve as 2FA authentication source since it supports OTP generation via plugins.
No texts / OTP needed to complete the installation, open source and also portable.

Microsoft Authenticator app from the store?
I've never used it but I am going to try it in the near future.
Maybe someone can comment on this app for Windows devices? It may help others as well.

Store app, updated and verified by MS, it prevents taking screenshots, it can be backed up and opened using Windows Hello.
Most password managers can store the 2FA codes
It is not a good measure to store both in the same app, it kind of defeats the purpose of 2FA.

While I would agree having your 2FA separate is more secure having it in a password that requires a strong 2FA factor is quite secure. Indirectly your site 2FA becomes your master password + master 2FA.

Session token theft won't work since vaulting solutions tie the session to your device which would still require an attacker to gain access to your master 2FA

While a local password manager may use 2FA (keyfile, hardware key) as part of the key for encryption, cloud-based password managers (like Bitwarden) may only use 2FA to control downloading the vault to be cached locally, with the vault—both local and remote—being encrypted using the master password only. Stealing the vault, whether local or remote, along with the master password, may allow attackers to decrypt your vault entirely, without the need for 2FA.

It may be theoretically possible to steal the tokens (for downloading the vault, and decrypting the vault in some cases), along with the master password (for decryption), and decrypt your entire vault as well, depending on the implementation.
