So I have noticed in device manager that, pci standard ram controller, when I check it, i see it says no driver is installed, and when l click resources, it say there is a issue with the device.

Now I think this is a old device and not used on newer systems so can be ignored,.is that correct?

A lot of times, installing the latest Intel chipset drivers will contain the driver you need for random things like that.

And... here's ten points, just for filling out your computer specs. :-)

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
I have the lastest intel chipset drivers etc, but having no driver is not the issue, its that when I check resources it show as this device has a problem.

Yet I'm thinking on my intel z390 I don't have pci. But pci express so it would show the error, but wanted someone to check and confirm

Thanks for the reply

Hi,

Please pist screenshots from Device manager to see what the device is. You can try to unzip the chipset driver and manually update the driver from Device manager.

It's under system device's in device manager, pci standard ram controller. All intel systems will have, maybe Amd too, and part of Windows device's not intel's.
P.s thanks for moving the post to the correct thread
P.s.s I've not check it before and just had a bios update and was just checking, there is other windows devices with no drivers yet take system resources. Just strange how this one says there is a issue, when I check it's resources.

It looks like Intel has newer chipset drivers than the Gigabyte site does...

I see that a lot with my AMD chipset drivers. I have to go to AMD to get the latest version.

Intel chipset just rename most of the devices, and this is a windows system device, and again not a driver issue, but a resource issue.
P.s and the latest chipset from Intel I did install and used the overall command, and not part of there package from what I see.

No its normal . If you don't have an 'error logo' next to the name of the driver, everything is ok.

It seems to be related to a specific device, probably portable. So not really an issue.

So with your advice, I'm missing some info for that device as it should not be listed, if installed-set correctly. it is part of the intell package but more the oem side. Will check with gigabyte drivers, maybe its only in gigabytes earlier win 10 drivers.
Any advice on installing-rolling back?

This was a simple question for the forum, but no true replys. Forum support is dead

It's peoples replys, like that, that got me started. If you have nothing good to say don't.
Of course I've tried deleting, but the system reinstalls the device.

Complaining about not getting a quick fix for your issue is not considered to be good forum etiquette. Most forumites are trying to be helpful, but it's possible that none have encountered your problem.

A semi-random suggestion: find the device ID from Device Manager, and Google it. That may tell you what it is.

It's not clear that you have a serious issue; I see no yellow exclamation mark.

I don't have the "pci standard ram controller" entry on either of my desktop system (AMD TRX50, Intel Z690). But there are PCI (not PCI-E) devices listed, even though there are no PCI slots.

What's up with the "custom BIOS"? Probably irrelevant.

With out going in to it more, I am sorry.

Custom bios offical from gigabyte adding RGB control to the bios, also updated bios firmware controllers, Plus 1-2 other fixs not listed on the f13a bios.

So I googled the Hardware id and what I got was, it saying it could be part of the serial io host driver, or cannon lake to ram controller.
depend on how much of the device id string i search.
Having no driver is not my concern, it the issue with resources. If I look at other devices I will see like pci express root controller, has no driver but resources.
I see two offical Microsoft posts 1 saying its fine, then next saying that pci standard ram controller device should not be listed as it points to a resources issue.
