I had to read about USB headers. I'd never heard of them before.

According to the map of the motherboard, yes, I do have 4 USB headers.

Forget that, they’re on the card. I thought it needed headers available on the MB

Slot 3 would definitely work. I wasn't sure about slot 4 as it looks like it's for bigger components. But I'm glad I can plug a PCIe USB expansion card into it.

I recently bought a networking card, I had no PCIe x8 so I threw it into a PCIe x16 slot, not a problem (for me)

PCI_E3 is X16 physically, but X4 electrically.

I think there are no reductions in available SATA ports if all 3 PCI-E slots are populated. (Some boards run into PCI-E lane limits.)

That only 4 pci lanes are implemented
not 16 like your graphics card. Even thought it is long, not all of the pins are implemented.

Also the short slot above that is probably 1 pci- e lane, which would not give you full usb speed like the 4 lane slot, and I don't think it would even work, since the card is likely 4 lane.

The motherboard doesn't have a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (20 Gbps) internal I/O header. See pages 37-38 of the user manual (pic below). It does have one USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (20 Gbps) port on the back, though. Generally speaking, you only need a PCIe expansion card if the combination of both 1/ the internal I/O headers (with one or more brackets and/or the front panel of the case hooked up to them) and 2/ the ports on the back are insufficient for what exactly it is that you had in mind. Like for example, if you really need to add an additional 20 Gbps port.

True. But since USB is backward-compatible, wouldn't it still work, albeit at 10 Gbps instead of 20 Gbps? I like that it has 2 USB-A ports and 1 USB-C port. I'm not looking for speed but rather for more ports.

If the diagram is an accurate portrayal of what you are using then the bottom slot is not adequate for the card. Use the PCI-E3 slot to obtain the full benefits of the card. Your GFX card should take up the very first slot under your CPU. This usually renders the second slot unusable. The designers count on this. That leaves you PCI-E3. The 4th. slot doesn't give you enough bandwidth for the card.

*edit* You can keep the card for future use on a different build if you wish. If you could link to a page that describes this card more specifically it would help. I doubt you'll get 20 Gbps on this card no matter what you do with it. Do you have an Amazon link for this card? I'd like to have a closer look.

It means that it's as physically as long as an X16 slot, but only 4 lanes are available.

You'd get full bandwidth with an X4 card, but not with an X8 or X16 card.

The manual lists the header as USB 3.2 Gen2 (10Gbps). It doesn't explicitly mention Type E, but that appears to be what it is.

There are quite a few things you can plug into that slot that can only make use of 4 lanes.
