Hi, Just wondering if anyone has the same issue with cleaning up temp files? In Settings/Storage/Temporary Files there is always 544MB and in one device 640MB of Temporary Files to be cleaned up. When these are cleaned and the PC restarted, back they come. This is the case in all 5 devices so not a one off. This has only happened since the Feb Cumulative Update. I'd be interested to know if anyone is seeing this and if it's just a bug? Thanks.

Some temporary files are needed by apps that Windows would keep. I'm assuming that it recreates those temporary files for those apps. I would just ignore that for the time being and see if this could be just a bug that Microsoft could fix. There's a page that shows that this does happen:

Mine was 49MB and Ive never used the the settings to clean them up but after doing so 2.84MB never got deleted and it stayed the same after a reboot. You did not say what apps you have in Startup. Did you try deleting them "manually"? When I deleted them manually from Windows/Temp and AppData\Local\Temp there were a LOT deleted and almost none came back after a reboot. There's now less than 1MB in those two temp folders but it still reads that I have 2.8MB temp files so there are other places it's looking . . . It's interesting but I'm not concerned about it.

Is you free space so scarce that you need to worry about these temp files?

I am also running Windows 11 Home and have the latest updates installed. However, I have never bothered cleaning up all of the temporary files. If I look in System > Storage > Temporary Files on my laptop, I see a total of 1.65 GB, if I select everything. Only 131 MB if I deselect Downloads. And 1.3 MB for Updates. But I have 248 GB Used and 681 GB Free on my hard drive. So I really don't care about the space that the temporary files take up.

Thanks for replying. It's more of an irritation than anything else and something that's happened since the last update. The number of startup apps hasn't changed. It seems more like a bug and ignore it. Thanks again.
