I linked my Android phone to my PC, but when I saw how it messed up all the icons on my phone, I unlinked it from my PC. I then restarted both devices, but my phone's icons are still screwed up. I assume I have to somehow delete the program from my phone, but I don't know where. There is no Phone Link app listed. These are my specs: Windows 11 Home version 24H2, HP laptop, and Samsung Galaxy S23FE. Please help.

I am not familiar with Samsung phones so I looked it up. Hopefully this will be helpful.
But there is no guarantee that this will reset/fix your icons. I’d of assumed a backup of your device could do that, but again, I don’t know Samsung phones.

On your Samsung Galaxy S23 FE:
  1. Open the Phone Link app: This app is pre-installed on Samsung devices.
  2. Go to Settings: Find the settings icon within the app.
  3. Select your Account: Choose the linked Microsoft account.
  4. Sign Out: Choose the "Sign out" or "Unlink account" option.
On your PC:
  1. Open Phone Link: Launch the Phone Link app on your Windows PC.
  2. Go to Settings: Access the Phone Link settings.
  3. Go to My Devices: Locate the "My Devices" or "Linked Devices" tab.
  4. Select your Device: Choose your Samsung Galaxy S23 FE from the list.
  5. Remove the Device: Click the "Remove" option to unlink the device.
Additional Steps:
  • Remove from Microsoft Account:
You may also need to go to the Microsoft account management page and remove the device from your Microsoft account.

  • Reset Phone Link:
After unlinking, you may want to reset the Phone Link app on your phone (App settings -> Phone Link -> Reset) and restart it to ensure a clean slate.

I already did the second part on my PC. However, I can't find the Phone Link app on my phone.

Phone Link is generally preinstalled on a Samsung phone. So I don’t know that you can get rid of it. And I believe on the Phone it’s called “Link To Windows” Let me look…

The "Link to Windows" app on Samsung smartphones is a system application integrated into the device's firmware, making it non-removable through standard uninstallation methods. However, there are several approaches you can take to disable or remove it, depending on your comfort level with technical procedures.

Option 1: Disable the App (No Root or PC Required)

This method is straightforward and doesn't require any advanced tools:

  1. Open Settings on your Samsung device.
  2. Navigate to Apps and locate Link to Windows.
  3. Tap on it, then select Force Stop.
  4. If available, tap Disable.

I cannot confirm any of this.

I found two apps: Link to Windows and Link to Windows Service. I was able to disable the latter but not the first one. Simply Forcing Stop doesn't do anything. I've restarted the phone, but the problem remains. I may have to take it to the phone store to sort this out. Thank you for trying, though.

The icons can be easily rearranged, no need to take the phone to a store to fix this.

You can use Samsung DeX to connect the phone to Windows. It´s very good.

Odd, I've been using variations of Phone Link for years now with my Galaxy S22 and it never rearranged anything on my phone. How exactly did it mess up your icons? Now the new One UI 7 operating system update we just got totally borked my old icons which were no longer compatible. It also rearranged the size of my widgets on the home screen. I had to redo my home screen stuff after that big Android update.

Removing link to windows or phone link will not rearrange your icons to a previous state.

Well, the problem is solved! I took the phone to the Verizon store where I purchased it and explained the problem. The young man there thought it might simply be the result of an upgrade, but after fooling around with it for a bit, he said he knew what the problem was. When I linked the phone to my PC, it asked me to download a QR scanner which I did. He deleted the app and now my phone is back to normal. Yay!

That's what I did with my Samsung cell phone. The QR scanner works perfectly together with my HP computer!
