Photo folder thumbnails missing

As the topic states.. I've got tons of photo folders and they no longer show the thumbnail on the folder. Any way to get this back? I've already tried File Explorer Options -> View and unchecked the Always show icons, never thumbnails option.

Anything else I can try?

Oh, this is on a brand new laptop with 11 already installed..

Unfortunately, thumbnail previews are no longer available for folders. Only for files now.

If you like, you can still change the icon of a folder to what you want to hopefully help.

Far as i know, the thumbnail function has been quietly removed from Windows 11.

and again, without valid reason or explanation. MS sucks....

I gave up on File explorer for image management years ago - Everything I do now is managed in (in my case) Lightroom, which gives me full control of what I want to see

Obviously Lightroom is not the answer for everyone, for various reasons bu other Image specific options are available some free or with Free versions

Irfanview is one of the first applications I add to my systems as it gives an Image centric file manager with a huge number of built in formats, including Raw, and has a huge set of plugins for less popular formats

And it's free, a little dated looks wise but the pros outweigh the cons many times over, It also supports skins so there may be a way to match the look to Windows 11 as you have your's set up

This change is very irritating. Like barman58 Irfanview is my go-to image viewer, browser, resizer, renamer. If you install the plugin pack, it will deal with just about any image format.
