Here is a great little free app for reducing the size of photos for sending in emails or posting on the web as well as a few other pre-sets. other software on the page, not all free though

I dunno. That may be getting a bit carried away with 3rd party solutions. :)

I think that all we really need is a glorified PAINT solution. One stop shopping, so to speak.

Having worked in the photographic industry for 30 years, I use a few programs for photos including PSP 7 (great for simple cropping and cloning) but my wife likes this program better for her needs so maybe it will suit others. I feel I do not want to load up programs with lots of options just to do a simple task with one or two clicks

Ah thats ashame. I downscale mine from the usual 18mb or so 4k screenshots to a couple of mb and it seems fine, Wonder what size you need xD
My photos are normally in the Mid Gb plus size and I drop them down to a few hundred Kb or so. I found when I set it up for my wife that the pre sets work well for her needs. Myself, I like the pre-sets as they are a one click solution which saves a lot of time setting them up. I know some people like that, and I have programs like that from years working in photography. Also some people think that a program without a lot of options is not as good. I liked RIOT but with all my other programs I don't have a need for it. Thanks for sharing the link, hopefully it will be useful to some people

I use the Microsoft Office 2010 Picture Manager, even though a bit old I am use to it & still works well.
I can even resize 100 images (from camera) in one batch by using resize + %.

The case fan and CPU cooler were after purchase upgrades...the i7 cpu runs hot and the OE solution can best be described as marginal when CPU intensive apps are used.
    ALSO added a VRM heatsink.

I use ImageResizer in the context menu of the file explorer. It can be installed separately or in Microsoft's PowerToys package. It works well for both magnification and reduction and with almost no loss of quality.

I can even resize 100 images (from camera) in one batch by using resize + %

Please can you talk me through that.
If I click on Resize with the % key pressed, I get an error beep.

I've never worked with more than one diagram at a time but, if I knew how, I'm sure there would be occasions when it would save a lot of time.
I use MSOffice 2007 Picture manager but I have always believed that they are the same.

All the best,
Denis

For snips I use Windows Photo's built-in app. For my photography images I use Photoshop. Both work like a champ.

I have marked this as solved, as the point of this thread was to show a simple free program not to end up with a list of what people use.

All the best,
Denis

Certainly Denis

I just resized 182 photos 50% from 345 MB to 94.6 MB.

These are my steps:
1. Rt. Clk a photo → 'Open With' Picture Manager
2. Select upper left box (of 3 in the row) to display all the photos in folder.
3. Click Edit Picture button.
4. Select all photos (keyboard ctrl + A)
5. Click the button "Percentage of original width x height" & add 50% or whatever you want to the % box & Click the 'OK' button.
6. In top ribbon choose the 'Save' button.

*I took screenshots of all steps if you get a problem.
attached is #4 where you seem to be stuck
