Pinning shortcuts to taskbar

I am trying to pin various shortcuts to folders on my task bar. The folders are held on a NAS server (i.e. Z drive).

To do this I have to create a short cut on the desktop and in front of the target address type the word "explorer" and a space before the target address. e.g. explorer Z:\filename. The problem is that more often than not, when I "Apply" and "OK" the target address defaults to C:\Windows\explorer.exe Z:\filename. Because of this, I can't then drag the shortcut to the taskbar. The annoying thing is that I have managed to successfully do this with some shortcuts, but now it defaults to C:\Windows\..... etc every time. I just can't replicate what I achieved earlier.

Can anyone help?
Thanks

Instead of dragging the shortcut to the taskbar, right click on it and select "pin to taskbar." If it works as expected from the taskbar, you can delete the desktop shortcut if you wish.

odd. should work based on how you state you did it. as a secondary method, if you cannot get it to work properly each time, you can create a .bat to open each one and pin those to your taskbar (obviously create a shortcut to each .bat and rename/change its icon)

Welcome to the forum.

You could also try this to create a shortcut to a shortcut?

Create a new folder somewhere:
(Example)

Makefile:
C:\Shortcuts

Inside that folder, create a new shortcut:

Makefile:
explorer.exe Z:\Your\Folder\Path

Rename the shortcut to whatever you like.

Now create a new Desktop shortcut to that shortcut:

Makefile:
%windir%\explorer.exe "C:\Shortcuts\YourShortcut.lnk"

Right-click → Pin to taskbar
