Solved Power down laptop cooling pad

Any idea how can I do that
I forget the name of the pad but it's just 5 fans and a wheel to control the speed(just a basic fan)
The laptop does not detect it as a device connected to it so I am not sure what to do

I want when put the laptop to sleep to also power it down but that's not possible because I have the option in bios to not turn off the usb ports during sleep(I need that to be on)
The pad is connected to one of the ports and i want to somehow cut power to that port when the laptop is sleeping

There is the option in Device manager to "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" but the problem is,all of them are enabled and the pad is still powered during sleep

Device Manager power settings only apply to enumerated USB devices (things with descriptors, drivers, etc.).A bare‑bones USB fan is just pulling 5V from the port — Windows cannot control it. Nothing in Windows can override BIOS-level USB power behavior.

Consumer laptops don't support per‑port power gating.It’s either:
  • All ports powered during sleep
  • All ports off during sleep. No middle ground.

I have an usb hub with 7 ports with on\off switches and I can use one of them but the problem is,the cable is too short(as usual...why they keep selling devices with as short as possible cables :( )

You can also just use a single and inexpensive USB cable with a switch, for the cooling pad. (linked just above)
Any time you purchase things with cable(s), you need to order the length you want, or get an extender cable, the length you want.

you can always pull the USB connector out of the laptop
thats about the cheapest on/off switch you can get.

There are cooling pads with on/off switch or you can simply remove the cable when you want to put the laptop to sleep and connect it again afterwards. However, the laptop is usually hot so it doesn't harm to let the fans working while it sleeps, unless of course you plan to let it sleep for more than a few minutes.

The USB connector is clearly designed to supply power even when the laptop is turned off and that is relatively common feature these days for laptops to have at least one such charging port (USB-C ?) so the the laptop can be used as a power pack to recharge other devices. The simolest way to break the power flow is to just unplug the connected device when it's not needed This is good practice any way, as you would probably find that any device left connected to that port may continue to draw power (and drain the laptop battery) when the laptop is switched off. Check the other USB ports as it may only be that one that is designed to work in this way.

I found two usb unusable cables(broken wire somewhere)that are usb-a to usb mini,I cut the mini part and check the wires
Thankfully the power cables were fine so I connect both and now I can connect the pad to the usb switch which have power on\off buttons so problem solved

Thanks anyway for the suggestions

No need to merge the two cables, you can buy a single USB A/A cable (type A is the familiar flat connector that plugs in the computer).

You should have got a cooling pad with an On/Off switch. So now you will need an extra item. A simple switch in the USB line or a USB hub with switches.
Search for "USB line switch" on Amazon.

On Laptops one of the USB ports USB-A or USB-C will be designated as a charging port, always On and usually supplying more current than the standard amount ~ 2-3x. There should be a switch in the BIOS/UEFI for the Always On/Off port when powered down.
The manual should say which USB port.

Not a good idea to just unplug as it causes unnecessary wear.

Just make sure you have insulated them properly before if they short can damage your USB port or even the entire motherboard.
