Problem after installing Windows Sandbox...

Windows 11
I followed the tutorial here.

I'm using Windows 11 21H2 Build 22000.282. My laptop doesn't meet Windows 11 requirements, so I installed the extended version using Rufus, which disables hardware check. There was no problem before I tried this.

While Windows Sandbox got installed successfully, it gave me the following error upon launch: "Failed to Initialize".

I realized I hadn't enabled Virtualization Technology in my BIOS setting. So I rebooted to enable it.

But now, my desktop keeps 'blinking'. Check it out here.

The only thing I could open is the Task Manager and it shows the CPU maxed out at 100%.

I have rebooted a few times and it keeps doing the same. I tried the following:

1. Disabled Virtualization Technology in BIOS.
2. Uninstalled Sandbox using the command given at the end of the same tutorial.

So far I am unable to do anything about it.

Can someone help?

Thanks.

My laptop is HP Envy dv7. I will add the system specs soon.

Under Windows Security/ Device Security/ Core Isolation, I tried to turn on Memory Integrity. It couldn't and asked to resolve incompatible drivers.

When I scanned for those, it listed two and both were my display Drivers:

20211116_114609.png

I disabled both of these to see if it helps. You are right, this started once I rebooted after disabling them.

At the moment, I am unable to get into the system on this partition. But I can boot to Windows on another partition or use the RECOVERY disk. How can I enable these drivers?

Hello @ThrashZone

It is an i7 with 4 cores.

I managed to enable the Display driver by launching Device Manager from command prompt using Task Manager and also rebooted. But the problem still exists.

Unfortunately, I don't have a system restore point. Is there anything I can do to get back to the system without having to restore an older (about 2 weeks old) system image?

Nope.

Updated the driver and it didn't help, as expected.

This looks like a memory/ CPU problem caused by the batch file. My laptop was perfectly fine before I ran it (which downloaded and installed several components and the process took a few minutes to complete). There were no driver updates available for my device since it is 2012/ 2013 model.

Can someone check the batch file (step 3) in that tutorial? The command is given, which I copied to a text file and changed the extension to .bat.

I hope it doesn't contain any malware.

Hi,
Net 3.5 wasn't listed on the tutorial Maybe @Brink can verify and add it to the tutorial if it is.
Yes. When Sandbox failed to initialize, I searched on the internet for a solution, and it was mentioned in one of the tutorials.

Anyways, I restored the system image from a backup.

Thanks to everyone for helping out.
