My system:
Windows 11version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3007)
Motherboard: ASUS ROG STIX B550-F Gaming
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5700x
Memory 16 GB
I have 2 1TB MVME installed on my motherboard, one is the boot (C:) and Disk 0 in Diskpart, and the second (Samsung) listed as Disk 1 in Diskpart.
I performed a Windows 11 reinstall to (C:) or Disk 0 using a USB drive Windows 11 installation.
After install my PC boots into Windows 11 fine.
From Disk Management:
Online Disk 0 (C:) Healthy (Boot, Page File, crashdump, Basic Data Partition)
Online Disk 1 529MB Healthy Partition(recovery Partition); 100 MB EFI System); Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 healthy (Basic Data Partition)
My Computer -> This PC->Devices & Drivers->Local Disk (C:)
NO OTHER Disk showing
BIOS BOOT-> Boot Option Priorities-> Boot Option #1->
The second NVMe does not show up, which is where the Windows 11 reinstall occurred.
In Diskpart:
Boot Disk is Disk 0 NVMe, which is the boot Disk (C): in Disk Management.
Disk 1 NVMe which is Disk 1 in disk management, which is also BIOS BOOT Option #1->M.2_2: Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1 TB (1000.2GB)
If I try to clean Disk 1 in Diskpart: "Virtual Disk Service Error: clean is not allowed on the disk containing the current boot, system, pagefile, crashdump or hibernation volume."
Prior to reinstalling Windows 11 on Disk 0, in diskpart I did clean Disk 0 as well as a create partition primary, Format fs=ntfs quick, assign. Install proceeded with no issues.
I did nothing to Disk 1 prior to the reinstall of Windows 11. Disk 1 was a clone of Disk 0 on my PC prior to this reinstall of Windows 11. Prior to reinstall of windows 11, both disks were present in BIOS Boot, Disk Management, diskpart and on My Computer.
How do I fix this to:
1- have Disk 0, my Boot Disk (NVMe ) show as a Boot Disk in BIOS BOOT and list Disk 1 the second NVMe ( Samsung) as a 2nd boot option (should not the second NVMe be available as an option?)
2- Have Disk 1 (Samsung) listed in My computer under Devices and drivers as my (D:) drive
3- I would like to clean Disk 1 (Samsung NVMe) in Diskpart so I can use the 1 TB disk space.
Thankk you so much in advance for the valued help.
