Solved Pros and cons of Wolf Security

I bought a new HP laptop yesterday and am in the early stages of setting it up. It came with Wolf Security but I haven't yet looked into it. I seem to have gotten a one year version of it for free; I expect they will come after me for money to renew it as that year comes to an end.

I'd be curious to know what users like and dislike about Wolf Security. What does it do well and what does it do poorly? Is it everything I need for protect my laptop or will I need additional apps to protect me properly?

For the past several years, I've been using the free versions of Avast and Malware Bytes and haven't had any problems as far as I can tell. Those were choices I made several years ago and stayed with but this world is constantly changing so I'd appreciate suggestions on better strategies.

Money continues to be tight so the closer to free I can get, the better

Stick to what you know and what works for you.
Do not spend money when you could use it elsewhere.
Stay away from those 'free offers' that require a credit card.

And I gave you ten points, just for filling out your computer specs.

Uninstall it, use Revo (Download the free version) and let it uninstall every last remnant of it.
Use your Avast and Malwarebytes license’s and move the softwares over to the new laptop (if that is possible)

Just because HP and Wolf have a buddy deal going on, doesn’t mean you have to accommodate it.

New laptops come pre installed with so much crap and “Offers” that the laptops have become a pain in the butt.
If it were me, I’d reinstall Windows 11 from a Microsoft ISO which would me minus all the proprietary bloatware that comes with laptops these days.

If you need it, you could always install the HP Support Assistant 9, after the fact.

That is exactly what I did with my new Acer, all from scratch.
(be careful to write down your encryption keys, as most likely and by default, newer versions of Windows would have been installed with Bitlocker enable)

Thanks to all who replied to this question. I've never heard of Wolf Security and when I tried to research it, I got videos of ads with Christian Slater hyping it which made me no wiser.

I've got a free year of Wolf Security so I'll use it for now. Both of my existing programs, Avast and Malware Bytes (free versions) do more "upselling" than I like so maybe Wolf will do less of that while still protecting me.

I think Dell and HP are having a contest to see who can produce the most bloated factory software setup. Best thing anyone can do for preserving the life of a new computer is to wipe the system drive and clean install windows as soon as they take in out of the box.

I uninstalled it, it was too intrusive. The logo still appears at boot, first screen.
