Question about fresh W11 Home 24h2 install and being out of date.

Hi, I installed Windows 11 Home (October 2024 image) on August 30th, did all my tweaks and programs, then connected to the internet on the 31st. I had paused updates for the new possibly problematic update with ssds (KB5062660 and KB5063878) with wushowhide. I then updated Windows normally.

Today Sept 1st, I realized that Windows didn't download any other meaningful updates. I looked around and realized I didn't have KB5062553 and KB5064489 so I downloaded them from the Microsoft Catalog and used wusa.exe to install them. Am I at risk security-wise for being on the internet between that time of being out of date on these updates and the initial install? I'm kind of worried but not sure if it's just OCD.

EDIT: I meant to add that I only browsed the web with Libre Wolf, and did not download anything. I installed programs and drivers that I had locally on my external SSD, and programs that had automatic updates built in.

no there is very little risk as your AV or Windows defender was taking care of all the connections.

so please relax, being a few days late for an update is not a major problem
but know you are all up to date.

best of luck, Steve ..

Even if the OS installer was from October 2024?

yes even if the installer is from 2024 as the updates would be at a later date
and Windows defender would still be protecting the system
if there had been anything untoward then the AV would have flagged it.

best of luck, Steve ..

Appreciate your help. There's no other updates I need besides KB5062553 and KB5064489 right? All the past updates should be included in them?

KB5064489 supersedes KB5062553. All Monthly Updates are cumulative, therefore you only need the latter of the two.
Windows 11, version 24H2 update history

When MS releases an "Out of Band" KB (unscheduled hotfix), it re-releases the same month's update with an added fix on top. This way users don't have to wait until next month for a critical fix.
