Windows 11
Hi folks, been a long time since I visited here, I hope everyone is doing well and has happy holidays this year.
So I have a Windows 11 enterprise, 25H2 (OS Build 26200.7171) installation and:

1 I turned off a lot of analytics in this install, all before I turned on the internet access.
2) Now when I click on some random files (but not every file), I get a quick small blank popup for a fraction of a second, and the file doesn't open. (this was happening before I turned the internet on, and is still happening afterwards).
3) One of the files that was blinking out was throwing a Microsoft popup from the right side of the screen and when I clicked on it, it said Windows was not allowing it to run, so I click on that window and turned that one off. Well the random files keep shutting down anyway.

Anyone here have a fix or at least an explanation for what might be happening?

I saved the browser shortcut for this page to my desktop, and now clicking on it doesn't even open this page.
I have to open the browser, and drag the shortcut into the window.

Unfortunately that's one of the few things I ran across when I was digging into this, and it did not work.

Fresh installation. Downloaded from the internet archive. License purchased from a random site.

I really went deep on turning off all telemetry, and i'm starting to think that's just not compatible with the way Windows operates. o_O

I might have to start all over with Windows 11 Pro.

As far as I know, Internet Archive OS files are certifiably correct. They give you the hash values to double check the file.

Anything is possible, but i've been building my own computers and installing various Windows OS's since the late 90's. I realize that doesn't mean something couldn't have gone wrong, but it's all files that I install. Windows photo viewer, MPC-HC, even browser links for Brave.

For instance, if I right click a file and select open with, I can select anything that's showing, no problem.
But if I instead select "choose another app" it immediately does the instant ghost popup window.

I'm leaning that way as well. But 11 enterprise or 11 pro?

i would go pro as enterprise is not meant for home and/or game computers
enterprise is exactly that for enterprise environments only.

but at the end of the day its your choice you choose.
best of luck Steve ..

That's exactly why I used the enterprise version. I don't do any gaming on my pc. It's really not much more than a storage device for all the stuff i'm into like music, movies, lots of health stuff, etc.

Well it hasn't gotten any better, after a forced update it won't even let me save a notepad document
So I went ahead and filed a federal trade commission complaint.
Meanwhile, i'll be trying out an alternate OS.

Best of luck everyone!

Did you folks know you can get Enterprise ISO's, by using MediaCreationTool?
Code:
MediaCreationTool.exe /Eula Accept /Retail /MediaLangCode en-us /MediaArch x64 /MediaEdition Enterprise

Right now, it's serving 26200.7462.
Generic install key "XGVPP-NMH47-7TTHJ-W3FW7-8HV2C" to get past the first screen.

I guess I missed something in this thread (though I read it twice)because I see nothing that would hold up under any federal trade complaint. The facts I took away from it are:
1.license purchased from random site rather than MS.( we don't know what site or what version of windows the license was for.)I have purchased 2 cheap licenses from a known site which activated as Pro retail licenses without issue. It's a gamble one takes when purchasing such "cheap" licenses so any loss is on you.
2.enterprise was installed which is not meant for consumers so ??? Why did you install enterprise?
3. iso was not downloaded directly from Microsoft servers.
4. You said you went deep in turning off telemetry, Thus you probably would have errors in event viewer.

So yeah, nothing about this is kosher from license key to iso to install. So YGWYPF when not following according to Hoyle. JMO.
Unless I'm missing something......
