windows 11 up tp date.
Ok, lets say that my Win 11 C drive has failed. (one of my fears.) I have 2 things to work with; 1 ESD USB (2024) stick and a Windows 11 system backup (redoing now). Oh, and you pros of course.
Which of these two would I use for the recovery. Like to have the process in my brain a bit just in case. Replace the offending drive, format it and boot off of the Stick.......................................

Building a new desktop on the horizon; this was definitely a budget build based on circumstances at the time.
Some options:

a) move the problematic drive to an empty bay in another computer

b) purchase an inexpensive HD enclosure

c) use a bootable windows media creation tool (mct) (windows iso) and notepad

d) use another operating system on a bootable flash drive (ubuntu / linux)





Find a flash drive that you can format > create a bootable Ubuntu / Linux flash drive > boot using Ubuntu / Linux >

backup important files to another disk drive or the cloud

Friend of mine used Ubuntu on a separate partition along with Win 10. Rather not as I have enough to think about than another operating system. This recovery SHOULD work just fine within the Win 11 environment. Thanks!!

A backup image that has important files can be restored onto another disk drive.

Macrium software performs some drive testing in that it may fail to make a new backup image.

If you want to test a drive there are multiple types.

A drive can pass multiple test types and fail on another.
