Is it possible that an external HDD can have its own recycle bin? if so how would one go about setting it up?

I thought that removable drives already used the recycle bin for deleted files. I know when I delete a file on my USB drives it goes to the recycle bin.

Nope. They get permanently deleted by default.

Now I'm confused. I have never made any changes and Unless I hold the shift key any file or folder I delete from any of my USB drives go to the Recycle Bin. I'm going to try it on my other computers and see what happens.

They're listed in Safely Remove Hardware when I have them plugged in. I tried on my other desktop and the folder was deleted and not saved to the Recycle Bin. Unless it was changed by a program I installed I don't know how my USB drives got set to use the Recycle Bin.

I just tested on a 16GB Verbatim USB Thumb drive and did get the prompt confirming about permanently deleting the files. I did not hold down the Shift key while hitting Delete.
