Their website says I can upgrade & get 50% off for life, so currently $50/yr. Is the first year gonna start the day of the upgrade, so $50 covers until August 26th 2026? Their website leads me to believe it would start when the support on my original 8.1 purchase expired, which was back in 2022 or from the day X was released, meaning the first year would go only until October 2025. It's not clear and will impact whether I bite or not or just switch to Veeam free.

Thanks

I would, but they don't let you post on their forums after the one-year point of previous purchases.

This is incorrect. There is no time limit on postong on the Macrium Reflect Forum.

You do not get support after one year i.e. ability to raise support tickets with the Macrium Reflect Support Team.

However, if you ask your question on the forum, you will usually get a reply from the support team.

The support starts the moment you upgrade to VX.

If you are still inside the first year of support for V8.1 that terminates immediately as the V8.1 licence is no longer valid if you upgrade it.

If you are outside the one year V8.1support term (i.e. it has expired) that does not matter as you have a new VX lease. You can still upgrade with 50% discount.

Also note, when you lease VX, you keep discount and support in perpetuity SO LONG as you pay the annual lease fee.

If you cancel the lease, you will lose the discount if you ever decide to reinstate it in the future.

Also note: the lease price is not fixed in perpetuity and could rise periodically e.g. due to inflation but you keep the discount aa above.

Note it is possible the discount of 50% gets withdrawn or reduced in the future for new upgrades. If you upgrade whilst the 50% offer is active, you keep the 50% discount of course.
