Welcome to the forum. I am assuming you are attempting to backup your registry. Is that correct?

I would first try to export the reg file somewhere on my C: drive such as to downloads. If that doesn't work either,
Make sure you have no corrupt system files that is causing this problem. Open a command prompt as administrator and type sfc /scannow
Pay attention to the scan results to see if SFC found anything it could not repair. If it found corruption it could not fix followup with this command (note the spaces)
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Restart computer
(Note-you can follow up with another sfc /scannow command to make sure that dism repaired the files)

If you were able to export to your system (C:) drive, that points to either a problem with the E: drive itself OR you have issues in the way you have your documents folder configured.

Which key or hive are you exactly trying to export? If you want to do a registry backup, then just take an entire image of the system, it's going to cause far less problems in the long term.

You can backup hives using batch script, i have attached the registry hives will be backup to C:\Registry_Backups folder but only way to restore these hives are from recovery environment.

OK so did you do the other thing I suggested...see if using the downloads folder for your backup works? As I said, if it does,you have an issue with drive E: or your default folder structure.
If I was guessing, I would bet you attempted to get rid of onedrive sync and move your user folders to E: but didn't do it correctly.

That is not correct. If he is already on the latest release(and with his specs he probably is), he will need to use Option 2 in that tutorial....download the iso mount it, and run setup.exe from inside the iso. .

The media creation tool will have the newest version of Windows 11 no need to download and mount ISO image.

It could be that the advice you've been given only works in Windows 11. Just a WAG.
