Hi gurus
Question : I want to logon to a remote Windows system (W11 pro) which has shared drives from a NAS attached to it. Can I from the computer (Win 11 PRO) logging on to the remote Windows session get access to those shared drives (assuming permissions and accounts on the remote server are OK).

When I logon to the remote Windows session I only see shared local drives (i.e those physically attached to the machine) -- I don't see the NAS connected drives which is what I need to access.

Is this how its supposed to work or do I need to do some more stuff like enabling an account on the NAS which I don't really want to do.

Local computer ----->remote windows computer--NAS connected drives enabled as shareable.

Cheers
jimbo

I often use VPN to log into my PC that is at work from home. I have access to all of the remote PCs resources, including mapped drives from the networked servers at work. I use Remote Desktop Connection, which is what I assume that you are using. I do not hook to a NAS with my work PC however. The servers are live 24/7.

Something about the NAS is making me think, however. I just threw mine away because it would keep falling asleep and I couldn't wake it except by rebooting it with the power switch. It seemed that when the drives would spin down, the NAS would also go to sleep and no command from my PC would wake it. The NAS would disappear from the mapped drives in my PC. No matter what I did, I had no access until I restarted it.

I dunno. That was my problem. Maybe it's the same for you. My NAS was a DLink DNS-323. It also had a huge security flaw that DLink would not correct due to its age. The advice from DLink was to replace it.
