I have searched the forum and internet and cannot find a working solution.

I have added an image to lockscreen/picture. I have since removed the image from my pictures folder but the image still remains in the lockscreen/pictures. Is there a way that I can remove this image from my lockscreen/pictures in personalize?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi

Have you tried just changing the image to something else?

Go to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen. Under Background, select Picture or Slideshow to use your own picture(s) as the background for your lock screen.

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\SystemData

take ownership (it'll change itself back after reboot, dont worry)
browse for your user SID folder inside
delete unwanted lock screens (will have many resolutions of same image)

Thanks in advance for any help.

As mentioned above... just choose a different image...

Image1.png

If you want NO image, like a solid color. Just open Paint (or some image editor) and create a solid color image.
Make it 1920 x 1080, and save it as a .jpg
Then just "browse" to that pic in Personalization > Lockscreen.

In Personalization > Lockscreen, it will save the five most recent images for you.

I have all my pics saved on a storage drive, so I can "browse" to them for use as a wallpaper or lockscreen image... etc.

Btw... if anyone wants the picture I'm currently using... here it is...

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?

Wow, what a pain in the butt. With your directions I found the images. But what was a real pain was having to change the permission for each next step through the process. To include changing the permission of the image in order to delete it. There were 5 copies of the image so that took the longest to change permission.

Thanks Dacrone for you help. And thanks to everyone who replied. Dacrone's answer was the solution.

you can just take ownership of the systemdata folder, delete all image within each sub folder.. so long as you dont go up to the dir pre systemdata (Windows). perms wont reset until you leave the systemdata folder.

Thanks, but not having that level of expertise one is wise to simply do one folder/image at a time. Yeah, the hard way but it turned out to be the safe way. Maybe one day I will have a level that I can try that, but not today. LOL
