Solved Remove Context Menu Entries for Avira, AirDroid, Pin to Quick Access

I've gotten my context menus looking pretty much how I want.

There are three entries left to remove and I can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

As for the other two 3rd party entries. I’m trying to find a post I made on where to look for them in the Registry.

As well as the below suggestions, I believe that CCleaner also has options to remove context menu entries, you might find the other two in there. Otherwise:

1. Use a Shell Extension Manager
The easiest and safest method is with a tool such as:

ShellExView (free, portable)
Autoruns (from Microsoft Sysinternals)

Steps with ShellExView:

Download and run ShellExView as administrator.
Sort by Type and look for:
- Context Menu
- Drag & Drop
Find entries for VLC, Revo Uninstaller, Adobe Bridge.
Right-click > Disable Selected Items.
Restart Windows Explorer (Ctrl + Shift + Right-click taskbar > Exit Explorer, then reopen) or reboot.

2. Edit the Registry Directly (Manual Control)

Always back up your registry before making changes.

Backup Instructions:
Press Win + R, type regedit, then:
File > Export > Save your backup somewhere safe.

Most context menu entries live in these registry paths:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFileSystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

Steps to Clean Up Context Menu Entries:

1. Open the Registry Editor (Win + R > regedit)
2. Navigate to each of the keys listed above.
3. Look for folders with names like:
• AirDroid
• Avira
4. For each folder:
• Right-click > Export (to back it up)
• Then > Delete the folder
5. Restart Windows Explorer to apply changes:

Thanks buddy. Pin To Quick Access is gone, as well as the Avira Speedup entry.

I can't find the 'Send Via AirDroid' entry though. I found the Avira entry here:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

It could be there but there are some entries that are just numbers. I've attached a screenshot of what is listed, maybe something will stand out to you.

Edit: Do you recognize FileSyncEx ? The App requires the phone and PC are sync'd so it's a possibility but if it's definitely something else I don't want to remove it. RegEdit makes me nervous even with a backup saved.

I believe the numbers starting with 596 corresponds to the "Restore Previous Versions" feature in Windows Explorer.

I don't know what the other is
Backup keys in the registry before you delete them..

Look in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\\shell.
Look in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\Directory\\shell

By the way, FileSynxEx is OneDrive. So that wasn't it.

I don't have that entry in my context menu so it's hard to help

Apparently, for some entries, the "Send To" context menu in Windows is managed through both a special folder and a registry key. I wonder if "Send Via" works the same?

For that other entry:
{c3db4192-4c22-428f-8c12-cf9cfabbdd17}

Go to (Edited):

Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID

and see if you can locate it to determine what it belongs to

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{GUID}... doesn't appear to exist.

...OH OK

Backup the folder (right click/export), then remove the folder?
Play with the PC to make sure no adverse affects

Hang on, I think you should be deleting the entry you found originally in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
Or did you do that?

No I didn't know what that one was at the time. It's how I want it right now so I'll play around and if it pops up again I will delete the one under Directoy/Shellex. Thanks again. Until next time
