This tutorial will show you how to remove linked Windows 10 or Windows 11 PCs and Xbox consoles devices from your Microsoft account.

When you sign in to a device with your Microsoft account, that device will get added and linked to your Microsoft account.

When you add a device to your Microsoft account, you can access online features for your device from your Microsoft account devices page at Microsoft.

If you no longer use a device or sign in to the device with your Microsoft account, you can remove the device from your Microsoft account devices list to unlink it.

"Ranting warning" These directions are exactly correct in how it SHOULD work. I have an old computer STUCK in my Microsoft account and Microsoft can't figure out how to remove it. This has been going on for 3 months. They spent over an hour remoting into my laptop trying different things, multiple phone calls with 2nd level support over a 3 week period with them remoting into my laptop, and the problem is not on my laptop. It's in my Microsoft Account on Microsoft's servers! They then transferred me to Accounts Dept and their answer to me is for me to abandon my Microsoft account and create a new one. WHAT?!! I've had this email address forever. I have tons of accounts with other sited (doctors, banks, shopping, etc.) that use this Microsoft email address as the username. I would have to change everything. Also, the obsolete device is stuck in Link to Windows on my phone. There is no way to remove a Disconnected Device. My most recent contact with Microsoft told me that the engineers are aware of this issue and they are working on a fix. Really? They can't just go into my account and delete the stuck obsolete computer? Thanks for listening to my rant.
