Solved Remove search defaulting to Edge browser

The windows in my new laptop is Windows 11 home version 23H2.

When I enter something in the taskbar search bar it searches in Edge. I would prefer it searched in Firefox (which is set as my default browser). Is it possible to change that behavior so the search is in Firefox?

This is by design.

Microsoft also decided that links in Outlook (App) and Teams will also be forced to open in Edge. There are Edge specific links in search also (I have found)

disable edge with sordum's edgeblock. actually i would disable searching web via start menu/taskbar all together anyways, but that is beside the point. there used to be a tool to redirect the search function to chrome but that has been obsolete for quite some time (think it was called chrometana?) But you can use wox portable to run in the system tray and add the identifier to search via any service. i have mine set to launch with ctrl+spacebar and a pre of "br" without quotes, then a space and then the query will search Brave for my query via launching the browser to do so

You may or may not want top stop web results from displaying in Windows Search.
As far as I know, blocking Edge with Edge Blocker will disable the ability to open web search results in Windows Search, they will not open with your default browser due to the MICROSOFT-EDGE protocol.
