No, the new drives made no difference so I returned them.

I've given up. I no longer put the machine into standby mode at all; I just hibernate it when I'm not using it. Maybe at some point I'll take Dell up on replacing the motherboard under warranty, but I find it hard to believe that that would solve the problem either.

Lenovo has conflicting specs on the compatibility of their 6TB enterprise drive with my system. I’m going to order the 2TB model and I’ll report back if I have success. I can’t imagine this could be a power issue but like you I’m sort of out of options.
