Repeated errors in Event Viewer

Hope someone can help with this. First off, I have limited networking knowledge so I hope I can explain this. I have a laptop, computer name: xxxxxxxxLaptop using WiFi and a desktop, computer name: xxxxxxxxDesktop using a wired connection. I Also have an ASUS RT-AX86U Router.

I am getting a lot of the following errors in Event Viewer:

Event ID: 4321

The name "WORKGROUP :1d" could not be registered on the interface with IP address 192.168.50.210. The computer with the IP address 192.168.50.1 did not allow the name to be claimed by this computer.

The IP Address indicated is my Desktop IP address and I see it in the router’s list of connected devices. At this time I only have the desktop powered on.

This has been happening for a while but not sure when it actually started. What is going on here?

I think I found my problem but not sure why. I realized I had the Wired and Wireless adapters on my desktop both enabled. Since I don't use wireless
I disabled that adapter and the errors in Event Viewer stopped... but not sure why that was necessary.

Funny you mention this as I just noticed the same non stop errors today and I only have ethernet connected on this machine with Wifi turned off. Didn't have it till I installed 26120.3073 Beta build. Curious if that is your build? By the way I'm using an ASUS RT-AX3000 router.

Is your wireless adapter configured for static IP?

I presume 192.168.50.1 is your router's IP. Is that correct?

My wireless adapter is NOT configured for a static IP.
My router's IP address is 192.168.50.1

And I'm having the issues again after I disabled the wireless adapter.

Hmmm, around Feb 4th I got a new Intel Killer Wifi driver update, ver 23.110.0.5 and wondering if that may be a factor. My ethernet driver is older so don't think that's a factor. Have you gotten a similar Intel Wifi update?

I did install the WiFi_Intel_v23.100.0.4 drive on Jan 2 but I purge my Event Viewer every week so I don't know if there was a problem at that time.

Hmm, different drivers so I don't know if their is any similarity there?

This has started to happen since 24H2 for me. The only way I can stop it is by shutting down both my NAS and my home assistant server, wait 30 mins until Windows claims the "Samba Master" role, then start them again.
Every now and then, it still loses it and I have to do it all over again, or just accept the error message.

Ignore this "error". This issue is happening for over 15/20years... Its just stating the router did not allow the computer with a certrain ip address it was currently pulling from it. Pulling info from the master browser. First pc that boots up in a network. and if you have 2 network interfaces, and one disconnects, it masterbrower is changing to a other ip on the same pc.

It does not effect your network.

Good to know, I've never had any problems. I guess I just get a bit OCD about all the errors event viewer likes to display. I really need to stop looking in there and just learn to ignore it lol.

I get this error every 5 minutes. After Googling for a while, I found if I turn off NetBIOS over TCP/IP then the error stops. I don't have any other
computers on the network that I want to view/share so it doesn't matter in this case.
