I use MS Word with Windows File Explorer and have many documents saved that way.
I tried to replace Word with Google Docs by downloading Google Drive but I but I had trouble which is difficult to explain.
Is it possible to replace Word with Google Docs using Windows 11 file explorer by installing Google Drive to desk top or any other way?
If so could you please help me out with the process I have tried YouTube and I have not had success.
I'd like to give more details but basically I just want to have Windows file explorer that has Word and replace Word with Google Docs.
Thank you

It's Windows and installing a program, File Explorer is the file manager that maintains storage of files created by programs. The main issue is whether Google Docs can work with the Word/Office files. Word versions from 97-2003 used the .doc file extension then with 2007 and later use a different format and the extension is .docx, other Office apps also added the x.

Thanks Berton.
If someone cares to add to this, I would appreciate it as I do not know where to begin if it is possible. Do I somehow make Google .Doc and Google .Docx the default app instead of Word?

That would the way to do it once the format Google Docs uses is known. I use LibreOffice and it can open a variety of formats, DocBook (*.xml) is one so I'd assume that is Google.

I tried Libre Office but there are so many settings that one has to be skilled like you. I know it is very popular as an alternative to Word.
It seems people need a lot of money between Word costing and Macrum stopping their free program and others.
The 2 most popular free imaging programs are from hostile countries if that makes a difference. I know we use many things from those countries, but software imaging needs to be safe when banks are concerned.
I might try Libre Office again and pay up for Macrium like everyone else. Thank you

DocBook is not from Google. It has been designed for documentation and other structured text formats. See e.g. What is DocBook?

Did you check out the LibreOffice documentation site? They do have a Getting Started guide.
