Restoring Systray Behavior in Windows 11

Is it possible to have the Systray behave like it did in Windows 10, i.e. moving icons from hidden to the right side of the taskbar and back again? The default Windows 11 setup is not very useful, especially since I have a couple of icons in the hidden box which show me the status of a number of programs! Thanks, MrBill

Welcome to the forum. What icons you see on the right side are controlled here.
Settings>personalization>taskbar>other system tray icons
Toggle on any you want to be visible at all times. Anything not toggled on will show as hidden

Note the down-pointing arrow near the clock/in the Notification Area [formerly System Tray].

Also check Personalization on right-click of the Taskbar then click Taskbar settings, can add or remove things.

You need to correct yer age, Andre! You is no longer ten . . . you is now 11!

I guess ya thought we'd never get to Windows 11 when you created your handle.

Oh, yeah, I think our last update removed the ability to drag and drop icons from that thing that sits in the middle of our monitor instead of its proper place on the left side.

I'm on the last Win 11 build, and can manage my systray icons just fine. In the middle instead of the left? That would be Start button, and you can place it on the left.

That down-pointing arrow/chevron is one of the reasons why I use ExplorerPatcher to bring back the Windows 10 taskbar. It's because if you, like me, have more than just a small handful of notification icons that you want to keep always visible in the notification area of the taskbar, then you very clearly have no other choice. With the Windows 11 taskbar, even if there were an option to always show all, it still wouldn't work due to the minimum taskbar height, the minimum icon size and the icon spacing being much too big.

I installed Explorer Patcher and it seems to do what I want, with 1 exception. How do I turn off the labels on the icons? With 8 or 9 icons on the taskbar, it's a mess with labels! Thanks, Bill
