Hi, just like the title says. Right clicking on any video files takes quite sometime, perhaps almost a second (sometimes even more than a second). This is happening on either existing install or fresh install of 22H2 with latest update, and still not resolved in 23H2 Release Preview.

Happens on all video format

Curiously, this does not only happen in modern context menu, but also in the classic one (and even classic one takes more time than the modern one at times).

Anyone also seeing the similar behaviour?

Thank you.

Hi, thank you for the answer.

unfortunately, I have used that program, but it's still slow only on video files. And it also happens in a fresh Windows installation, so I don't think it's a third party app causing it, rather which Microsoft item that slows it down.

My theory for now is it is caused by Microsoft Defender context menu but so far haven't found which registry entry I should delete to remove that.

Unfortunately, it's still slow, even after removing defender (also removing command prompt too).

I guess now I'll stick with modern context menu as the delay is the shortest there (but still not instantaneous). But if anyone can give me more insights, that will be appreciated.

Or I guess I'll come back to Windows 10 now? It's so frustrating the context menu keeps being broken again after already quite good at the beginning of 22H2, even though I really love 11 aesthetics.

Latest report: it doesn't happen on Safe mode, but thumbnails don't appear there.

So, my conclusion is that, the thumbnails of the videos, somehow the processes behind them, are causing the context menu delay.

So far my option is to use Nilesoft Shell but make the priority=0, exclude all context menu items other than the default ones, and the right click on video files are now quite fast, but still there's a slight delay, although almost not noticeable.

Perhaps I can do something about the thumbnails? Any processes or registry I can take a look at?

Thank you very much for the tutorial.

While it's not really "fixed" as it is only a workaround (including just using the modern context menu instead), I'm still going to consider it as "solved". Although, will still monitor it in a considerable future in case any real fix comes up.
