Hi All,

I'm unable to right-click on my start menu, I use Open-Shell but I did check to see if right-clicking was working in the Win 11 start menu. No dice. The only difference is when I right-click on a shortcut in the Open-Shell menu Explorer cashes and I have to restart it in the Task Manager. Right-clicking simply doesn't work on the Win 11 start menu. No menu pops up but Explorer doesn't crash. Also, right-clicking on a app shortcut on the desktop crashes explorer.

I logged onto my Administrator account to test the behavior, and right-clicking on app shortcuts works just fine on that account. I've already re-created my user profile once. Upon re-creation right-clicking started working fine again, but after installing/uninstalling a program, can't remember which, it stopped working in my normal user account.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have system restore points, and registry backups, since I use BC Uninstaller. Maybe I should start there?

These specs will be updated sometime. I'm planning on re-using this machine as a server.

I had this issue after disabling "running apps in the background" option. have you ever used an app to modify registry keys like O&O-Shutup10?

I did do that, But I used Winaero Tweaker. I'll undo it, and see if that helps.

Thanks

1. Create a test account.
2. Do the changes and registry keys modifications step by step.
3. Restart.
4. Check for system failure to find the exact cause of this problem.
5. Go for the next change!

You have proven that the issue is with your user account (some tweak you've made as well as possibly classic shell or a combination of the two). A system restore does not correct problems with your user account, only reverts changes made to the system.

It's a smart computer user who images his system BEFORE he starts tweaking.

I've imaged the system. So I may just restore from that. I'm going to try disabling some tweaks in O&O's Shutup10 before hand. Seeing if that clears things up. I'm going to restore from the image.

I ended up having to reinstall because the image files were corrupted. I switched to Rescuzilla from Macrium Reflect.

A couple of weeks ago, Windows reported that my backup drive had errors on it so I fixed them. This must've corrupted the images made by Macrium. Everything is fine now. Luckily I have Dropbox so all my data was safe.

I made a set of fresh images in Rescuzilla, which restored just fine.
Thanks for all the help.
