Solved Samsung Magician 8.3.1 error

I installed the latest Samsun Magician Ver. 8.3.1 but got the following error message when I started it:


I checked the installation's log file and found these messages:

Google showed a several reports of this problem, but none had a solution that worked. So I'm going to uninstall it and wait for the next version.

Completely uninstall Magician using Revo Uninstaller Free. Make sure you scan for and remove all the leftovers file and registry entries Revo finds. Restart and reinstall Magician.

i have issues with Magician on my Samsung SSD 970 Evo. I just don't use the damned Magician for looking for some errors. the SSD works great. I think it has something to do with a setting I use in the Motherboard Bios. I can't remember now. There are other brands of software you can use. IMHO

Yup - already tried that (though with HiBit Uninstaller which is like Revo but with a better UI) and it did not help.

I've had Magician installed for several years, but only used it to check for SSD firmware updates - of which there were very few. When I switched to a Mini PC & Windows Pro I just didn't reinstall it. I may just leave it. Maybe I'll try it one of these...years.

Did you run the installer as Administrator?

Allegedly, there is supposed to be Samsung Magician Service or MagicianSVC in services.msc. I don’t use Magician so I can not confirm.

• Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
• Look for a service named Samsung Magician Service or MagicianSVC.
• If it’s Disabled, do the following:
  • Right-click it → Properties.
  • Set Startup type to Automatic.
  • Click Start, then click Apply and OK.

If the service isn't listed, the installer might not have registered it correctly—try reinstalling as admin.

Nope - don't /didn't have that.

No idea then. perhaps someone in here mentions it or it’s worth asking.

Installed and runs OK for me. It appears to be server reliant as it kept connecting to a server when reading my drives.. Do you have it blocked in the firewall?

I am surprised you didn't comment on "SamsungMagicianSVC" Which was easily found under "S" for Samsung

No - as far as I can tell I have no traces of any Samsung software on my system - other than the SSD device drivers of course. As I said, I'm not missing Magician because all I ever used it for was to check SSD firmware level, and my SSD's are a bit old now so I doubt there will be any more firmware updates.

If it isn’t running then the software may not run.
