I just added a second monitor. It is the same model as my main monitor: BenQ SW2700.

My main monitor has a resolution of 2560x1440. But the second monitor shows a resolution of 1920x1080 which cannot be increased.

The main monitor is connected straight through to the PC with an HDMI cable. The adapter is "Intel UHD Graphics 770" with 59.95 Hz refresh rate.

The second monitor is connected to the PC with a DVI cable going through an adapter to a mini display port. The adapter is "Nvidia RTX A2000" with 60 hz refresh rate.

How do I get the resolution of the second display to match the main display?

on my dual-monitor system (HDMI, Windows 11), it's noticed that sometimes this problem occurred (the box grey, couldn't change anyway). but the problem could be gone without any fix or reason.

not sure if it's a bug. but I would try several times.

I'll try shutting down and restarting to see if the problem goes away.

I suspect it's the DVI to DP adapter that's limiting the resolution. If that's true, I'm hoping someone will suggest a different adapter.

I think you may correct about the adapter.

A quick look at Amazon suggests that you'd need an active adapter. Amazon.com : mini displayport to dvi dual link
You are correct. I remember now that some HDMI to DP cables I bought wouldn’t work, I just found 4 in a box. I ended up having to buy “Active Adapters” my apologies to @perkinwarbeck

This cable is Active, as is the following adapter (for example) or as @bobkn has supplied, depending on where you’re from;

I should also note, that the non-active adapters I bought wouldn't work at all, where as yours do to an extent.

I can’t say if your adapter is the problem, but I never use them. There are cables for everything. Jump on Amazon or a company of your choice and search for DVI to DP cable. Read the reviews, buy a cable and bypass the adapter.

Problem solved. I got rid of the DVI and connected the monitor to the PC with a DP to DP cable. No adapters. The resolution is now correct.
