"Secure System" process - What is it?

Process Explorer shows a suspended process "Secure System". On the web I see lots hits, but all seem to be "What is it?" questions (just like this one). Spme of the replies run off into the weeds but none give a straightforward answer. I was going to assume it' was a legitimate part of Windows (or maybe BitDefender which I just installed), but most Windows processes show "Company Name" as Microsoft abd BitDefender process show "Bitdefender". This process shows no company name.

Anyone know what this thing is?

Hmm. Registry doesn't show a company name either. I guess that's no indication of a non-Microsoft process.

Secure System process is related to Virtual Secure Mode. I personally do not understand VSM but here's Microsoft's definition.

Virtual Secure Mode (VSM) is a set of hypervisor capabilities and enlightenments offered to host and guest partitions which enables the creation and management of new security boundaries within operating system software.

I rarely use Task Manager, but I just checked. I couldn't find this process in the Processes display, but it does show in the Details display (which I had never looked at before).

It's related to (or perhaps is) the Memory Integrity feature found in Windows Security>Device Security>"Core isolation details". Turning that off disables the process permanently after a restart.
