Solved Separate partitions for software and content files?

Well, I put the docs on a separate drive and now I think simple would be better. I'd love to hear opinioins on the safest way to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. tyia

Right click on the folder and select Properties > Location > Restore Default.

Being this is a old post your question may have already been answered but I'll give you my reason. Some if not all USB drives have dedicated controller boards. If the controller goes bad the data may be lost forever. To get the drive working again, one would have to find a way to replace the controller board. Chances are that if the drive was removed it could still be used. It would have to be formatted and used as a new drive. You won't be able to rescue your data.

Thanks for mentioning FreeFileSync! I decided to install it and give it a try. On my first try earlier today I tried backing up two folders on OneDrive and one local file. I added all three folders together and when I clicked to backup I got an error message. The two OneDrive folders where showing 0 files. I just tried it again with just my Document folder on OneDrive and it worked. Unless it was because I was trying to backup three folders at the same time I don't know why it didn't work. If it works on my OneDrive Pictures folder I'll test it for awhile and if I find it a keeper, I'll support them with a donation.

Even though I can do the same with my backup programs, I'm finding FreeFileSync to be easier for me to use to backup selective folders. Plus the ease of keeping the folders up to date. At first I didn't think I could backup folders from OneDrive because I got a error about the folders having zero files. On my second try it worked. I know it was something I did wrong. I'm thinking this program is going to be a keeper. If I find that FreeFileSync like I want,s I'm going to use my backup programs to do system backups and FreeFileSync to backup my important folders. I moved my User Folders to drive D: so they are not included in my system backups. Even my local OneDrive folder was moved to my D: drive. I did keep my Desktop folder on my C: drive.
